<li class="dialogue">Now, don't worry mister McNeely. I promise we'll find some way to get you your rent before the end of next week.</li>

<li class="dialogue">Before the end of next week and that's a promise! We'll sell Jake on the streets for his body, if we have to!</li>

<li class="dialogue">(Unruffled)As you can see, Jake is already up to date on the plan. You've got nothing to worry about. Great seeing you. Take care! Goodbye!</li>
<li class="action">Sam shuts the door and locks it after pretty much PUSHING McNeely through it. He leans his back against it and looks sternly at his roommates and speaks to them accusively. The camera gives a good view of his Lonely Mountain High sweater.</li>

<li class="action">McNeely looks over Rosa's shoulder at the rest of the group.</li>
<li class="character">MCNEELY</li>
<li class="dialogue">(Angry) You hear me, punks? You've got one week! One week to get me my rent!</li>
<li class="action">McNeely leaves the appartment and SLAMS the door behind him. The group is left sitting there, not looking at each other, uncomfortable. Suddenly, everyone starts speaking at once.</li>
<li class="character">EVERYONE</li>
<li class="dialogue">How come you haven't paid you rent?
How can you not pay your rent?
You said you had paid your rent!
Why the hell didn't you tell us anything?</li>
<li class="action">Jake stands up, angry.</li>
<li class="character">JAKE</li>
<li class="dialogue">Everyone shut up!</li>
<li class="action">Jake looks at his friends. Angry, but also nervous.</li>
<li class="character">JAKE</li>
<li class="dialogue">Listen. I don't care why none of you haven't paid your rent. I mean, neither have I.</li>
<li class="character">SAM</li>
<li class="dialogue">Come on man, I had this really good lie prepared.</li>
<li class="character">JAKE</li>
<li class="dialogue">(Irritated) No Sam, just shut up, okay? This isn't some kind of joke, okay? We better think of some kind of real plan to get some real money real soon. Because I am NOT going back to the streets. I ain't.</li>

<li class="dialogue">(Irritated)What, this?</li>
<li class="action">McNeely holds up his arm. A SMALL DROP OF BLOOD is flung UNNOTICED into the boxes of Chinese food the roomies were eating around the TV.</li>

<li class="dialogue">Some punk on the subway thought he could take me on. Me, an ex-marine! I knocked him out, but the crazy bastard bit me!</li>

<li class="action">Jake is silent, watching her. Ally shakes her head and snorts.</li>

<li class="action">Ally looks up. In a slow cascade of emotion her lower lip starts to tremble, she sniffles and a tear runs down her cheek. With a soft wail she throws herself against Jack, who looks torn between wanting to comfort her and being embarrassed by standing with a crying woman in the middle of the street.

<li class="dialogue">Oh my god! She bit her! She bit her!</li>
<li class="action">Back where the woman fainted, people are running away. The fainted woman is staggering from person to person, clawing and biting, blood dripping from her teeth.
Jack stands nailed to the ground, PARALYSED by fear. The zombie woman jumps at him. Just before she can bite him a KNIFE sinks into her neck from the side and she falls to the floor. The camera zooms out to show ALLY with blood on her hands, eyes wide.</li>

<li class="dialogue">(Smiling and pointing at the door) Say hello to Officer Arrestyourface, Sam.</li>
<li class="action">SAM winces and slowly, slowly turns around to the Police Officer standing in the doorway taking notes. We FADE OUT with a sickly smile spreading on Sam's face.</li>

<li class="action">Jake is about to say something when there's a sound from the door. A DETECTIVE bursts in, gun drawn.</li>
<li class="character">DETECTIVE</li>
<li class="dialogue">Police! Hands where I can see them! You're all under arrest!</li>
<li class="action">The crew stands there and slowly moves up their hands, flabbergasted except for ROSE, who looks at the DETECTIVE and frowns.</li>
<li class="character">ROSE</li>
<li class="dialogue">Isn't this a bit excessive, officer? This isn't a violent crime and we aren't-</li>
<li class="character">DETECTIVE</li>
<li class="dialogue">Shut up! Up against the wall, NOW!</li>
<li class="action">Sam and Ally make their way to the wall. Jake moves towards the wall as well but stops next to Rosa when she doesn't move.</li>
<li class="character">ROSA</li>
<li class="dialogue">Why do you want us up against the wall? We're not resisting, we would co-operate if you gave us a chance to.</li>
<li class="action">The Detective PUSHES Rosa against the wall. Jake tries to stop him but gets a barrel in his face for his troubles. He stumbles towards the wall, knocking over mister McNeely's coffee table in the progress. A MUG rolls away and stops at ALLY's feet, trailing coffee over the carpet. The DETECTIVE takes a step back and uses his free hand to make a call.</li>
<li class="character">ROSA</li>
<li class="dialogue">(Whispering) Something is very, very wrong here. This isn't a normal cop.</li>
<li class="character">SAM</li>
<li class="dialogue">(Whispering urgently) Well, he still has a very normal gun that shoots very normal bullets!</li>
<li class="character">ROSA</li>
<li class="dialogue">(Whispering) Exactly. So we're going to have to deal with him before he turns out to be a dirty cop, shoots us for 'resisting arrest' after killing this 'innocent civilian'.</li>
<li class="character">JAKE</li>
<li class="dialogue">How do you know all this?</li>
<li class="character">ROSA</li>
<li class="dialogue">Used to be married to one. Now stay sharp, he's coming over.</li>
<li class="action">When the detective puts his hand on ALLY's shoulder, she suddenly spins around with a WICKED GRIN on her face.</li>
<li class="character">ALLY</li>
<li class="dialogue">MUG to the FACE, fucker!</li>
<li class="action">In slow motion we see Ally deflecting the detective's GUN up while at the same time flipping the mug upwards with her foot. She grabs it mid-air and shatters it against the Detective's face.</li>
<li class="action">Time speeds up again and the whole group rushes the stunned policeman in a desperate grab for the gun that ends with a loud GUNSHOT. Everyone freezes. Finally the Detective falls on the floor. Jake stands, trembling, holding the smoking gun.</li>
<li class="character">JAKE</li>
<li class="dialogue">I didn't...</li>
<li class="action">Everyone stares at Jake. He looks back at them, his face a mask of unbelief. Finally Sam breaks the tension.</li>

<li class="dialogue">Well, at least we know who to call, right?</li>

<li class="action">JAKE almost RUNS out of the room. The rest of the roomies look at each other. Rosa gives Ally a nudge. She moves out of the room. FADE TO BLACK.</li>
<li class="sceneheader">EXT. APPARTMENT BUILDING – ROOF AFTERNOON</li>
<li class="action">Jack is standing at the edge of the roof. A CIGARETTE is dangling between his fingers. He doesn't hear ALLY walking up behind him.</li>

<li class="dialogue">I didn't know you smoked.</li>
<li class="character">JAKE</li>
<li class="dialogue">I don't.</li>
<li class="character">ALLY</li>
<li class="dialogue">Huh.</li>
<li class="action">The two stand there in silence. Jake finishes his cigarette and throws it over the edge. Ally puts her arm around his waist. After a moment he puts his arm around her shoulder in return.</li>
<li class="character">JAKE</li>
<li class="dialogue">Lost my dad when I was young. Heart failure.</li>
<li class="action">Jake swallows hard, obviously trying to keep his emotions in.</li>
<li class="character">JAKE</li>
<li class="dialogue">There one day, gone the next.</li>
<li class="action">He squeezes Ally's shoulder, his shoulders hunch over.</li>
<li class="character">JAKE</li>
<li class="dialogue">It's just... so fucking unfair. Why him? Why not someone else? Why'd he leave me behind like that? Huh? Why'd he have to go and do that?</li>
<li class="action">Ally steps in front of Jake and hugs him.</li>
<li class="character">ALLY</li>
<li class="dialogue">(Whispering) You're not alone. We're all here for you. We're not going anywhere.</li>
<li class="dialogue">I'm not going anywhere.</li>
<li class="action">The camera zooms out slowly. We see Jake hug Ally tighter. As the scene FADES TO BLACK, they kiss.</li>

Jake and Ally wrestle with the zombie who is CLAWING and trying to BITE Sam.</li>

<li class="dialogue">Get back!</li>
<li class="action">A loud SLASH can be heard as Rosa slashes the zombie's head clean off it's neck with a sabre, leaving a trail of blood and guts on the flor and on Sam.</li>

<li class="dialogue">Oh God. Oh God. Oh God.</li>
<li class="action">Jake looks wide-eyed at Rosa.</li>
<li class="character">JAKE</li>
<li class="dialogue">Where did you find that thing?</li>

<li class="dialogue">Mister McNeely hung it above the door we came in through. Sharp as my grandma's tongue! Semper Fi, I guess?</li>
<li class="action">The roomies look down at the thing that used to be their landlord.</li>

<li class="dialogue">Whatever that was, it's trouble. Big trouble.</li>
<li class="character">SAM</li>
<li class="dialogue">I think we're not going to have to bother about rent for a while.</li>
<li class="action">The camera zooms out through the window and upwards, giving the viewer a top-down view of Lonely Mountain. More and more zombies are shuffling over the streets. The FADE OUT is accompanied by a loud chorus of ZOMBIE MOANS.</li>
